About Us

Joseph E. (Gene) Talley and his wife Joyce Dodson Talley, originally from Charlotte County VA., moved to Waldorf Maryland in the fall of 1955. They opened Talley Jewelry in November 1956 after setting up and operating a watch repair shop in the back of Allison Refrigeration. The business enjoyed steady growth located in the heart of town. All four sons Eugene, Larry, Doug and Ron worked in the store after school and during summer break. Ron, the youngest son, knew at an early age that he wanted to pursue the jewelry business as a career. Ron would apprentice alongside his dad learning watch repair, Jewelry Repair, and exceptional customer service. Trade schools attended were Cincinnati School for Jewelers,Holland School for Jewelers, and the Gemological Institute of America. Ron broadened his field of expertise by becoming a Graduate Gemologist through the Gemological Institute of America, in 1993, and earning credentials as an Appraiser of Gems and Jewelry from the International Society of Appraisers, The American Gem Society and is a Senior Member with the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. After Gene and Joyce retired, Ron continued to operate the business. Today Talley Jewelry carries on the tradition and Ron operates the store along with his wife Lauren. Talley jewelry continues to excel as a custom jewelry design and repair shop using old world techniques and artistry blended with cutting edge technology.
